My past images attempt to reveal the embodied subjecthood of the female protagonist within a typical clichéd narrative scene where her presence as the object is assumed.
Currently, I have been working on a photographic project titled, 'Girl! Girl!' which is intended to simultaneously picture the ridiculous, one-dimensional stereotype of female friendship that is so pervasively reflected in contemporary portraits and the nuanced depth of the relationships I actually experience. 'Midnight Special' is an in-process drawing/ installation project which focuses on a piece of lingerie as a stand in for the female body. The objecthood of the female body is blatantly represented by this garment but the actual body is absent. Unwilling to show, the objectified body is defiant, except as knowing subject. 'Photos of Gifts' depicts women acting as objects for advertisement subtly, facetiously transformed, flattened, inextricable from the object portrait, as they are wrapped around that object and tied with a bow.
My practice consists of works comprised of photo and video processes, drawing, sculpture, installation, as well as, collaborations with musicians and sound experiments.I have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, nationally and internationally.
